The Mooloolaba Masterplan, changing the face of Mooloolaba
The Sunshine Coast Council has big plans for the Mooloolaba region… in fact, 20 years’ worth of plans. The Mooloolaba Masterplan is a long-term vision with an emphasis on bringing together the four key precincts in Mooloolaba into one iconic and renowned location. As plans roll out we will see the Mooloolaba Foreshore, Esplanade, Heart and Southern Gateway merge into a space boasting 40% more parkland, 2.4km of enhanced waterfront pathways and improved spaces for sports and entertainment.
The implementation of plans guarantee that Mooloolaba becomes a world class beach destination, promoting a healthy active lifestyle in a location that allows you to immerse yourself in, on and under the water. The masterplan uses best practice urban design to ensure it stays an exciting, attractive and sustainable place to live, work and play.
The foreshore rejuvenation alone will see more than 6,200m2 of Mooloolaba foreshore transformed into a recreational hub alongside world famous Mooloolaba beach. When complete, we will have access to extensive grassed areas, shaded picnic areas, BBQ’s, outdoor gym areas, new playgrounds and many more amenities.
Plans for the Evans Long redeveloped Wharf are finally starting to be revealed with the first of the revamp tipped to be open by the commencement of school holidays this summer in the form of a new 350 seat restaurant and bar known as ‘The Dock’. The longer term vision for the Wharf however will see many of the existing structures demolished and purpose built to create a world-class shopping and dining precinct.
Mooloolaba is literally buzzing with progress that promises to deliver a fresh and vibrant lifestyle within the beachside location, boosting the economy, property prices and long-term investment in the area. The Esplanade, Foreshore and Wharf redevelopments are certain to not only increase tourist activity within the region but attract the locals back to this exciting and energetic location.
